We also were given a present of an afternoon tea which we really enjoyed and the service was also excellent. The Sunday lunch was very tasty and the service was first class

Restaurant was closed, so we’re directed to the cocktail bar where the only option was dinner on a low coffee table from a sofa or a high table & bar stool - both not ideal.
No order taken for 30m only to be told you order at the bar !
Ordered roast beef only to be served roast chicken and if we wanted roast beef it would take chef 15m to prepare, surely to goodness if it’s Sunday lunch Chef has roast beef prepared - so we had the chicken.
What was eventually served was tasty, but sorry this was embarrassing and the hotel should be ashamed at the level of service it offered.

When we arrived at the Crutherland House Hotel it was very busy in the cocktail bar where we were sent for Sunday lunch. We were shown to a table and our order was taken. 45 minutes later our first course arrived. The whole service was a shambles!
The food was fine but the staff did not seem to be coping.

Despite the difficulty in making a reservation, as phoned was never answered, the meal and service at the Sunday lunch was excellent.

On arrival went to reception to enquire where to go , no one was at the desk
Looked around where 4 members of staff were chatting , they observed us but never approached to ask if they could help
We then asked 2 others where the Sunday lunch was being served, they couldn’t tell us where the restaurant was
Eventually , asked a girl in the bar area who told us it would be served there bar/lounge
Not exactly my idea of place to eat 3 course lunch, with low tables, no place settings(cutlery)
She asked my name to which she had no record of my booking but accepted voucher anyway
Took us to table and gave us the menu, my husband asked what the soup was, to which she said “I don’t know “, “it’s a mystery soup”, I ordered the goats cheese dish
She returned to say “it was mushroom soup (which I wldve said was potato & leek) and there was no goats cheese,”, I opted for the soup and she offered my husband haggis Bon Bons from the nibbles menu
When starters arrived we were given a spoon for soup and a fork for Bon bons, being told “I cant find you a knife”, so we had to cut starter and butter bread with the opposite ends of our spoon/fork
We had quite a wait between courses and when we received the plates we had to wait for cutlery to be found , the roasts were very nice
After sometime we had to go out to reception to inform them that the mains were finished
Guy from reception came and took dishes away and said desserts would be 10-15mins
Eventually we enjoyed our desserts, but honestly we were so glad to leave
For something booked as a 4pm Sunday lunch , we left at 6pm
Don’t think we will be rushing back in a hurry
At least not until service improved
