Amazing service & food, spa too busy
Reviewed on
The staff were wonderful, the service was great and the food was amazing.
The rooms are lovely, the casting service was not working on our TV to we got moved rooms to rectify this.
The spa was too busy, we could not get 2 beds together, while I appreciate there was a deal ok which would make the spa busy, I was also aware from moving rooms that the hotel was not full. So if it was full presumably people would not have been able to get into the spa.
We also asked, at dinner, about the etiquette for breakfast. We asked if the restaurant allowed guests to attend in robes. We wanted to pop down for breakfast and head straight to the spa. A member of staff advised us, after checking with 3 managers that this is fine for breakfast though we may be seated at one particular end of the dining area. We said this was fine for us.
In the morning, we came down in our robes and were turned away as we had to get dressed for breakfast. This in itself is not an issue but frustrating as we had asked about this in advance.
Very relaxing and wonderful staff

The hotel and spa was lovely and the food. The only slight hiccup was that our bathroom was flooded due to a blocked shower but was dealt with very quickly by housekeeping.
Hotel is lovely but experience could have been better

The hotel and grounds are lovely. The breakfast was amazing and we really enjoyed it. However, we were slightly disappointed in the experience. Limiting time in the spa seems a bit mean spirited. By limiting each person gets four hours and there is no leaving and coming back so you cannot go and get something from your room once you are in. The woman who "showed us round" literally stood at the entrance and waved her arm and said this is the spa! She did not show us that there were changing rooms or tell us what was actually available in terms of spa facilities. We had to wander outside and work it out. The lay out of the spa facilities is odd - the large sauna faces the back of the other sauna rather than the lovely grounds. The smaller sauna was closed with no explanation. The showers are pretty grim. We were not made aware there was a changing room which would have been helpful. As all of the spa facilities are outdoors it would make sense to have pegs to store robes on. The swim up pool means that the floor at the entrance to the pool is always wet which is less than ideal. Compared to other spas such a stobo castle the experience was nearly as pleasant which was disappointing. We very much felt like we were treated as "itison voucher" customers which is unfortunate as surely the point of offering an itison voucher is so that customers enjoy their experience and return. On check in we were asked to provide card details for any room charges. We did not charge anything but the hotel charged £100 to my card and this was only returned to my balance when I emailed and was held for a full week which is rather cheeky! Despite the lovely location and impressive breakfast I am unlikely to return as the spa was limited and disappointing.
Best Facilities Around

One cannot fault the superb five star facilities. The beautiful grounds, wonderful spa & lovely well equipped room. Both Phillip who showed us around & Jack in Charlie’s restaurant are a credit to Hyatt as they both gave 5 star service. Sadly many of the younger members of staff have either not been properly trained or do not adhere to the high standards expected of such an establishment. Hopefully this will be addressed.
It was very nice stay without being a "wow".

Great spa, great service, great food

Had an excellent first visit to Schloss. The spa was great and exactly the relaxing retreat we needed.
The staff accommodated our every need and went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and they were all lovely!
We had an evening meal at Charlie's too, and the food was great!! Would highly recommend.
Over priced and over hyped

First of all the staff are great really friendly and professional
However 5 star it wasn’t - lots of items on the menu not available. No proper coffee for breakfast and the jugs of coffee brought round by staff were lukewarm and definitely didn’t taste of coffee.
Breakfast on the last day was far from what was expected - chef cooking omelette and eggs with no gloves, prepared bacon and then picked up poached eggs with his hands to put on plates. Not even washing them in-between.
Massages were over priced for what was on offer.
From being really excited to go and spend a special occasion there it didn’t live up to expectations.
Great

Great stay, rooms lovely and spa excellent. Decor and vibe impeccable. Staff in hotel lovely.
Only downside service VERY slow in Charlie’s - waited 45 minutes for drinks to be ordered. Staff not very attentive in there, which put a little bit of downer on trip. If returning I won’t eat here.
