The food was delicious, from entering the building to leaving we got lovely staff serving us and asking if we needed anything and sp polite. Absolutely great service and food.
Very good afternoon tea with great service.

We had purchased two vouchers for Afternoon tea for two. On the first occasion we were served in the dining room and this week we had our afternoon tea in the cafe. We enjoyed both very much, found the service good and the staff friendly and attentive.
Not as expected

I booked the afternoon tea for my friends birthday. Unfortunately the tea wasn't in the hotel, it was in their cafe (Brunstane next door), very run down, and no atmosphere. Food was OK, but certainly not what I'd hoped for as a birthday treat.
Very nice

The afternoon tea was excellent, as all the sandwiches were fresh as was our heated scones ,mini sausage rolls and pork pies , and a selection of cakes and as much tea as you want , as for the service was excellent. We were put in the Buckstone as the braids kitchen wasn't open until 3pm , but this place was clean and airy a great day was had.
Afternoon tea with nice views over Braidburn Valley

We ordered afternoon tea for three and were served two large cake stands, so food was plentiful. Sandwiches consisted of two egg mayo and two tuna and cucumber with some warm sausage rolls. There was no choice so if you don’t like those fillings beware. We were given fruit scones and plain. Scones were warm when they arrived but by time we got around to them they were cold and a bit dried out. There was however plenty of jam and cream especially as we had been given enough food for four. We were the only ones eating in the restaurant so it was a bit lacking in atmosphere, but staff were attentive and we enjoyed the view over the valley. For the price we paid on Itison it was probably worth it. I would return to the hotel again but not for afternoon tea.
Pleasant surroundings and nice food and staff

Service could be quicker. Tea was served before food arrived and was cold when eating.
Afternoon tea - overall below par

The whole experience was underwhelming.
It was a Wednesday afternoon so maybe naturally it was my busy.
The waitress didn’t make any fuss of the experience, and didn’t really get the idea of an afternoon tea! This is really down to the management to be fair.
We were presented with a quarter sandwich of egg mayonnaise and a quarter sandwich of tuna and cucumber. This was a poor offering and there was no discussion beforehand and no question of allergies etc. There was a nice sausage roll and mini pork pie offered which was warm and tasty.
The sweet offerings were not described and were a bit unusual! The scones were generous and ok!
I wouldn’t go back there unfortunately as there are many others on offer around Edinburgh which are far superior.
My parents loved it!!!

We got this as a gift for a birthday! And my goodness my parents couldn’t stop talking about it. They loved the grounds and remembered coming to a wedding decades ago. The food was splendid and the staff were lovely! This encouraged my parents to come out more. So thank you
Very Good!!!
