Enjoyable stay

The hotel was easy to find at the northern end of Peterhead, on the banks of the River Ugie. My room was spacious, but it was a family one originally booked for my daughter and grandson. They couldn't make it so I used the booking. Although I didn't use the spa or gym facilities, all looked clean. You have to pay to use them. Dinner on the first night had a couple of disappointments. After being allocated my table, it took a full 15 mins. before I was approached to take my order, and unlike any other establishments, I wasn't even asked if I would like anything to drink. There was no wine list either. Service was slow, as there was only three staff serving a coach load of guests plus hotel guests. There was also a wedding function in another suite. You'd imagine they would put more staff on, knowing there would be more guests than usual. The coach party were on a buffet, so the three staff were continually having to top that up as well as clearing plates away and serving food, and one was also taking time out to allocate tables.
The food was good although the starter and dessert were very small portions. I was told hotel policy didn't allow me to charge my wine to my room. Small details but when you're used to doing these things elsewhere it is a bit strange.
The staff were all pleasant and friendly which is always good and makes your stay more enjoyable
