It was pleasantly much more than I expected.
For someone like myself who adores visiting Castles, to stay in Lumley Castle was exceptional.
They've pitched the design just right which only adds to the medieval atmosphere.
Staff are very welcoming and provide a relaxed fit to yr stay.
The only tiny disappointment was that the food provided at the Bar was very ordinary and only a little less in price compared to the exceptional dishes offered in the Restaurant.

Very nice afternoon tea for my mother's birthday on bank holiday Monday. We liked that there were two options of the type you can order (gentlemen's was more savoury, which we preferred). Very easy to book and voucher easy to use at the venue. We left full and happy.

Not very wheelchair friendly but maybe to be expected from a castle, food was average not homemade cakes apart from scones, serving staff were too busy and this meant it took reminders for requests.nice location but won’t be going back

Our afternoon tea at Lumley Castle using our Itison voucher was superb. We took our young granddaughter and chose a gentleman’s afternoon tea. The food was tasty, portions were generous (we were given a box to take home the cakes we couldn’t manage). Service was great, and our granddaughter loved seeing the spooky castle. Great value.
Lovely unique location let down by lack of variety for vegetarian guests

I would have rated the visit as ‘very good’ rather than ‘average’ if the selection of sandwiches for vegetarian guests had been similar to those for non-vegetarian guests. Non-vegetarian guests had 4 sandwich selections (one each of ham, egg, cucumber and prawn) whilst vegetarians only had 2 selections (egg and cucumber, 2 of each). It wouldn’t have taken much imagination to make two more varieties of sandwiches for vegetarians. Would recommend for non-vegetarians such as myself but my vegetarian friend said she wouldn’t go back

Fabulous castle and setting, although room we were in was a bit dark and none of the suggested river views. Afternoon Tea was very nice and good value. Staff lovely but they were rushed iff their feet.
