Old tired chaotic and wonderful all at once.

Full of character and charm - don’t expect modern chic. Squinty floors prevail but clean and comfortable. Food was wonderful. Even although the dinner booking arrangements were madly chaotic somehow everyone got fed in reasonable time. Great bus transport links for oldies with free bus passes. Village is lovely and there are lots of marvelous walks around

This is an old establishment, but don't let that put you off. The rooms are dated but quite large and comfortable. The bar area is welcoming and the food is superb. If the weather is good then enjoy a drink in the beautiful garden. It is also well placed for touring the lovely Borders countryside. The staff are also helpful and friendly. It is a great place for a nice break away.
A very warm experience

A 2 nights stay that was almost a tale of 2 different hotels.
We are going back next month, it’s already booked and we wouldn’t have done that if we didn’t think it was a good value, pleasant hotel to stay in.
Quirky and good food

Room was clean and comfortable. Good housekeeping service during our stay. Asked for more pillows and must have been a bit of a shortage as received 1 pillow and 2 cushions -served the purpose though.
Good selection for breakfast and was served promptly.
Restaurant was busy and staff appeared to be quite stretched with service a bit slow
Good choice on menu and food was very good.
Reception and restaurant staff were all friendly.
No problems with Itison booking, checking in or receiving our bottle of wine.
