We had a super Sunday lunch at the Tollhouse. There was a good choice on offer on the menu. Portions were of a good size and all courses were very good. Service was attentive and friendly Would definitely recommend

On arrival we discovered main entrance has a good few steps up. As my husband hasn't great mobility I was concerned for him coming down the steps. However a lovely member of staff pointed out there is a side entrance to sit alfresco which suited us fine. We were never in main restaurant but downstairs was lovely and spotless toilets etc.
Nice place to spend a couple of hours on a sunday

Enjoyed everything I had and it’s the first time in 5 visits the Sunday roast beef was available.
I particularly enjoyed the sardine starter and, though the potatoes could have handled 15more minutes in the oven, my roast was excellent.
My wife did not have the same experience as I did. Her chicken rillete was bland and the sourdough should have a dental warning. The cod was nice but it and the orzo were overpowered by the pancetta the deserts were ok but…..
Service as ever, was friendly and professional.
Probably visited enough for the time being but would not put anyone off coming to this nice restaurant.
Lovely atmosphere and good food

Poor arrival experience from the outset. There were three staff members standing at the bar, including two managers and a server, yet we were asked multiple times for our voucher number despite it already being included in the booking process as instructed.
A table who arrived after us, American tourists, had their order taken before ours. We ordered two beef Sunday roasts, only to then be told the chef had made a mistake and only shin rather than brisket was available. Strangely, the table beside us appeared to receive the full roast without issue. To be fair, the manager was polite when explaining the situation.
Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. The starter lacked flavour and the main course felt more like a mass catered wedding meal than a quality Sunday roast. The venue looks lovely from the outside, but there was very little ambience inside.
We had been excited to visit, especially as it was my partner’s birthday, which was also mentioned on the booking, but there was no acknowledgement whatsoever.
As we were leaving, another group arrived and were met with similarly cold attitudes from staff. What was particularly disappointing was overhearing the manager downstairs on the terrace speaking negatively about customers to friends, which left a very poor impression.
We chose not to complain during the meal as it was clear it would not have improved the overall experience. Sadly, this visit was a major disappointment and certainly not good value for money.
