Had a lovely stay at the George hotel, great location to explore Northumberland. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We were really impressed with the food, evening meal and breakfast were great. Would definitely recommend
Nice Location

Lovely spot on the riverside and near Chesters roman site. Food and drinks were good but the bar and restaurant being open plan meant it was very busy and noisy at night. Cooked breakfast was good but limited continental selection. Would go back though.

We stayed for two nights with our dog. The room was pleasant and the bed was very comfortable. We did not eat in the restaurant as dogs aren’t permitted there but we ate in the bar both nights. Service was pleasant and efficient and the food was delicious. There was a good selection for breakfast in the morning and our hot food was cooked to order. The decor in the public spaces is modern and was always clean. This is a very dog friendly hotel and all staff made us feel welcome at all times. Our voucher stated there would be a £10 supplement each night for our dog and we were charged more than this but we did get dog treats and dog meals. We would happily return.
Very welcoming. Hotel was very comfortable and relaxing. The staff were lovely and accommodating.

Our second visit to the George this year and it is just as good as ever! The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming, the staff are so friendly and helpful in a lovely unobtrusive way, the food is excellent and the rooms are clean and well appointed. We are planning a return visit in 2026!

The staff were great. The foot really good our second time here. Unfortunately our room was so cold even with the heating on ( perhaps not adequate enough radiator size) the bathroom only had heating ( electric) for two hours bathroom furnish lovely but too cold to shower.
WE CHECKED OUT EARLY did not stay for second night. Everything else was really enjoyable Would be cautious of room being booked as our previous room was good
A pleasant overnight stay

The only drawback to this hotel was the fact there wasn’t a lift and the rooms were spread out on 3 levels
The room was warm and nicely furnished the food was good quality and plentiful
Lovely hotel and location with great staff

The staff were very friendly and the cosy atmosphere with the log fires made for a relaxing break. We wish them every saving getting their plans passed for the swimming pool renovation a much welcome facility that could be used by the locals too.
Comfortable and well worth every penny

Such a nice organised hotel in the lovely Northumberland. It was busy which is a good sign…and is a haven for walkers around the untouched countryside. It was better than we expected…they catered to my inability and our room was so clean spacious and comfortable the food and drinks were so good and well worth the money and the staff were down to earth and attentive Breakfast was the icing on the cake fresh warm and well thought out
Situated in a perfect spot for all the history around
