Disappointing - expected better

At check-in we were given our room pass keys and no other information. Had to ask when and where breakfast was served. No bottle of prosecco was given, though it was part of the deal. There was someone else's long hair in the bath plughole and hair on the floor. Dust on the toilet roll holder, hinges of the door and the tray holding the tea and coffee. The desk in the room had a big mark on it and it looked like the edge of the desk had been shaved off. Walls were marked with splashes. The breakfast was OK, though the breakfast staff were a bit too quick in clearing up as first my coffee was taken before I had finished and then my toast. Good view of the river and bedding was clean, though the pillows were hard..

Only negative aspect is that the car park has limited space but overall the hotel provided a good base when visiting Newcastle.

We were a large group celebrating my birthday but staff were very good, letting us all gather in the reception area and coffee lounge and were generally very accommodating. Large room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast ok.
