A fabulous, indulgent experience

The driveway up to the main house is peaceful, the reception was calm and booking in was quick and efficient. The bedroom, spa and outdoor infinity were amazing, helped by the recent glorious Scottish sunshine.
The dining room staff were friendly, knowledgeable and friendly; dinner and breakfast had a wide choice and food was amazing
Highly recommended
Excellent, everything was exceptional.

Could be nice if you plan ahead

I think we were unlucky with our experience.
We turned up at 3pm as per check in. Dinner was booked for 6:30pm so we decided not to use the spa and use it the following day as we wanted time to chill out and get ready. Dinner was nice but nothing to write home about. After dinner we went to book a treatment for the morning to be told there was no slots available - our fault we should have booked ahead.
We had tea in our room but no milk. We decided we wanted to order dessert to our room, the phone didn’t work for room service. I decided to use my mobile to phone reception and ask to get out through to room service, no answer, tried 3 times and gave up.
Breakfast was nice enough, although I would expect à la cart for the price you pay. Something that surprised me was an older member of staff had spilt a boiling kettle of tea on herself, and no staff member went to help her which I thought was shocking as you could see she was in a lot of pain.
After breakfast we went to the spa, to be told we only have access to the facilities when staying as a guest and as check out is 11am we would need to be out of the spa by then. This meant we only got a few hours in the spa, and never got to take advantage of the extra facilities like the gym.
I can see how this could be an amazing stay, but unfortunetly for us, we won’t be back.

Spa was lovely. Dining experience was very disappointing

The spa was lovely. Outdoor pool and hot tub were amazing. Lovely relaxing ambience in the lounging area.
Had a very nice lunch in the Clubhouse. Very reasonably priced and good value for money in pleasant surroundings.
Our dinner was very disappointing. My daughter’s main course had to be sent back 3 times because it was cold. By the time it came back the waiter I felt was less than polite and seemed to infer it was our fault. We were not the only ones sending back cold food. Also I feel that a 400% mark up on the price of our wine was ridiculous. They also had the nerve to charge us 18% service charge which wasn’t optional.
It was a 75th birthday celebration for me and a birthday gift for my daughter. The whole experience was spoiled by an overpriced underwhelming dinner.
We won’t be back

This hotel is classy and fabulous. We upgraded to a room in the main building which was lovely. Food vouchers with this deal was great. Weather was amazing so we were able to take advantage on the outside pool and loungers.
Fantastic luxury stay :)

We had an itison deal and it was a birthday surprise for my husband! We both loved it - the spa is the highlight ( unless you golf as that looked great) - it was very calm, spacious and the pool/ hot tub outside a joy. We had a good 3 hours or so and even got up early on check out day to get another hour outside before breakfast. I would like to commend all staff everywhere in the building who were helpful and friendly at all times, even down to contacting us before the stay to remind us to book an evening meal ( in the deal with £45 a head allocated, if I am picky, for a 5 star hotel the food wasn’t the best and esp at the five star prices though we thought the portions were adequate compared to some reviewers). I chatted to someone who stays regularly and they just eat on the bar. The social spaces were lovely, the bedroom spacious with lush toiletries and the grounds gorgeous and although a two hour drive away, we would definitely go again. I would probably get my full 4 hours in the spa and eat at the bar or pop to Kelso maybe. Thanks Team Roxburghe and also a huge thank you for the surprise birthday cake sent to the room for my husband. We really appreciated this kind gesture :)
Great venue, lovely spa but expensive

The hotel was lovely, rooms great, spa was very busy so no seats to use but was lovely. Food was good but really expensive and staff put a 12.5% tip on bill directly (which they did not provide a good enough service for me to give a 12.5% tip IMO)
