Had a wonderful 2 night stay. We really felt we were living in a castle as opposed to staying in a hotel. It was a very authentic experience. First class food, great choice for breakfast, lovely restaurant and while the menu selection is small, the meal was delicious. Food in the library bar also good. Overall great value, attentive staff and would return, and recommend highly.
Notes for improvement: a small shelf at the side of bed that doesn't have a bedside table would be helpful. The upholstery in the library bar is needing recovered or replaced. A bit grubby - maybe next time don't pick cream colour?

Lovely hotel couldn’t fault any aspect of our stay. Lovely cosy room had everything we needed. Brilliant breakfast and nice food in the Library bar

Our stay at Lumley Castle was excellent. Great location. Staff very helpful. Plenty of areas to have a quiet drink especially the inner he court yard.
The big issue was the £25 dinner allowance per person. Normally we would expect to get a main and either a starter or dessert. Our mains cost more than £25 , I think there was only one main which was just under £25.
The food in the restaurant was excellent. I believe a more realistic allowance would be £35 - £40 per person.

My stay at Lumley Castle exceeded all my expectations. The castle and grounds were beautiful with hanging baskets and flowertubs in abundance, simply stay gorgeous. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and the room rather quirky. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. Both breakfast and dinner, served in the beautiful restaurant, were excellent and plentiful. A really memorable stay which I hope to repeat someday.

Our second visit this year and our room was a bit more " snug " than last time but very quirky Staff all pleasant and helpful

We love Lumley Castle. The staff are very good - nothing was too much trouble, and the breakfasts are excellent.

A little disappointing

Not as good as previous stay. Also menu wasn’t as good. Tried to sell us a starter which was different to what was described on the menu. When we raised the issue with person in charge of restaurant, she was rude and had a “take it or leave it “ attitude. When leaving we made reception aware and they apologised and made a slight reduction on the bill. Which helped redeem things a little.
