Work in progress

First and foremost was the helpful service given by all staff.
At check-in, Sophie was so keen to help (she noticed my wife walked with a stick) by allocating a bedroom close to the lift. Unfortunately that one did not meet our expectations (nor Apex I would venture). On explaining our concern, Sophie gave us a complimentary upgrade with which we were very happy. Well done Sophie for her spontaneity and best intentions.
The restaurant is Kailyard by Nick Nairn. Some reviewers were disappointed at the lack of choice - four starters, mains and desserts - but we found dishes to suit us and the quality of cooking was certainly there.
Apex Hotels only took over the hotel in November last year. Decades of under-investment was clear to see - tired carpeting and items of bedroom furnishings. However a programme of upgrading is in progress.
What was conspicuous by its absence was a compendium in the bedrooms giving information on the hotel's facilities etc. The provision of a leisure centre and pool was an attraction for us, but be were not aware that it is situated in a separate building some four minutes walk for the hotel. Not a lot, but enough on a dark rainy day!
Regarding the next two questions, we would wait until upgrading was further advance before returning or recommending to friends.
A lovely room ..comfy bed .meal in hotel was very nice .

Absolutely no complaints, room lovely and clean.
Breakfast first class
Staff friendly and accommodating.
Did not use leisure facilities this time.
It would have been better if the hotel was pet friendly rather than just accepting pets.

I bought the voucher because the description said the hotel allowed pets and my friend and I were looking for a night away with our dogs. It was only when I got the voucher that the charge for dogs was £35 each - the voucher was only £99!
We were unable to use the main restaurants because the dogs were not allowed there. We had to use the bar lounge where the menu options were more limited. A dog package was left in our room but this was for only one dog and the hotel knew we were brining two.
In future, I’ll be looking for a more pet friendly hotel.
We had a really relaxed stay. Everyone was so helpful. Food excellent.

Had a lovely overnight at the outstanding Dunblane Hydro . Most noticeable is how well trained the staff were / from reception, spa and dining room . We had a lovely evening meal and then struggled to do the breakfast justice with the spread put out !

The hotel is tired and needs a major cash injection! Just because you are seen to be getting a deal through itison it doesn’t mean you should accept a substandard product
Lovely clean and comfortable hotel
