• Excellent golf course, helpful staff and satisfying lunch

  Excellent well presented golf course which was very quiet in fact no one else on the course. Many improvements since our last visit 4 years ago. Will definitely return again this year. Itison voucher marvellous value

• Good, challenging course

  The course was challenging, long and varying in height which proved interesting on a few holes. Tight off the tee, but open down the fairway, the only challenge was the persistent 4 plus hours of rain! We were on our own on the golf course, but when arriving early to try and beat the rain we were initially told that the itison voucher prohibited play pre-noon, which we knew… it took a good few minutes to arrive at a negotiated half-hour respite. And that was only after we’d said we’d go and spend some money on a coffee… Secondly, the signage for the locker rooms was non-existent. We were not offered the necessary key to gain access through the unmarked exterior fire door, which would also allow access to the changing room, so we needed up changing in the small gents toilet. This was only possible as a greenkeeper was in and had left the fire door unlocked. On our return, we asked for a key and were given one. The chairs in the conservatory were quite stained from leaks in the glass roof, an occurrence still in evidence whilst we ate later. The hotel looks grand on arrival, but there’s a danger that little things could tip the memory.
