- Grand in name and grand in nature, this historic hotel was owned by the Duke of Northumberland and has survived two world wars and the 1930s Depression!
- It’s also played host to an impressive list of guests ranging from actresses, politicians and sports stars since being built in 1872

Although work was being done to the hotel, 1st floor refurbishment, it did not cause any issues. Rooms nice, comfortable bed, tea/coffee (inc decaf), breakfast cooked to order (hottest breakfast I've ever had). Dinner was of a very good standard, served quickly. Staff, fab. My only issue (minor), is a warning for those checking in late, there is very limited parking easily available.
It's a grand hotel with exceptional views. -

Have stayed here in February for last 3 years. Great hotel in a perfect location though parking could be difficult especially at weekends. Staff are great, food good, bar prices reasonable. Looking forward to next year's visit.
